Bye Minneapolis!

Well, our first venue show closed yesterday.

We would like to thank all of the wonderful people at the Textile Center who helped install, promote, support and host our work. We especially wish to thank Sheryl for all of her hard work and patience. Without her help and guidance, this exhibit would not have looked so beautiful and so impressive.

Our next venue will be in Flagstaff, Arizona in the beginning of 2013. We will be posting information about upcoming news.

These pieces have never been shown in any other gallery or exhibit. Look for photos on our blogsite and on Facebook. And if you find yourself in Minneapolis-stop by and see the show!

Underneath it all: Desire, power, memory & lingerie opens at the Textile Center, 3000 University Avenue, S.E. in Minneapolis on July 20 and runs through August 24th.

Two new venues!

Our show has some legs-next winter in Cotuit Center for the Arts (on Cape Cod). A great venue with lots of space in an all purpose arts center. They have a theater and arts program, too.

This week we got a letter of interest from Coconino Center for the Arts in Flagstaff Arizona. Very exciting!

Our artists: April Dauscha

April Dauscha is the newest member of our exhibit. Her pieces are wonderful depictions of women's struggles with body image, desires and empowerment.

April Dauscha's series Exposed: An Armory of Physical Longings investigates the idea of body armor. The corsets are part of an imaginary wardrobe that serves to protect and accommodate women in their body processes and their mental states. They are uniforms that provide strength and empowerment. They speak of her desires and struggles. They seek beauty in her burdens. April Dauscha is currently a graduate student at Virginia Commonwealth University studying Fiber in the Craft/Material Studies Department. She looks towards Costume History, traditional Catholic rituals, and themes in 19th century literature to feed her obsession with ritual, reconciliation and communication through dress.
